The college is seeking a collaborative transformational leader who will effectively navigate a large multi-campus environment during a time of organizational change. This leader will be expected to incorporate higher education and community college best practices into the practices of the administrative area. The Program Dean of Math, will lead a team of dedicated department chairs, faculty, and staff to provide integrated delivery of precollege, transfer, and supportive courses in Mathematics. The successful candidate will have direct experience and strong knowledge of best practices in implementing initiatives to address equity and opportunity gaps in Mathematics.

This position, under the direction of the Dean of Academic & Career Pathways for Academic Foundations, Essentials & Gateways (organizational chart) ; will be responsible for developing, implementing, and evaluating equitable student success in precollege, transfer, and supportive math courses with department chairs and faculty aligned with retention and success metrics. Candidate Profile

These qualifications, skills and abilities are critical for success in this position.

- Several years of classroom teaching experience with an inclusive, student-centered approach and familiarity with precollege and gateway mathematics and STEM+ courses

- Strong cultural competency and successful experience working with faculty and staff to implement initiatives and provide responsive services designed to address equity and opportunity gaps for those from communities with institutionally marginalized identities

- Demonstrates awareness of one’s own cultural background and how it influences perceptions, values, and practices and engages in the way they shape their relationship to students and staff. Experience disrupting prejudice, discrimination, and racism that impacts students and staff at the interpersonal, intergroup, and institutional levels.

- Experience managing academic programs and successfully applying an empathic, collaborative leadership approach to supervision, stakeholder engagement, and driving change by applying innovative approaches to advance policies, practices and complex dynamic systems that lead to improved and equitable student success outcomes

- Demonstrated facility with using quantitative and qualitative data for decision-making, planning, implementing and making continuous improvement for operations, programming, procedures, and services

- Excellent interpersonal communication skills with a commitment to listening to ideas, building trust, and validating the lived experiences of internal and external team members



Minimum Qualifications


To be considered, your application must demonstrate these minimum qualifications. (Experience is calculated based on the start and end dates you provide multiplied by the number of hours per week worked).

- Master’s Degree

- Five (5) years of progressively responsible professional experience related to the area of assignment (Mathematics), providing program/project management or program/project coordination

- Three (3) years of management experience, including employee supervision, in higher education or in an industry related to the area of assignment

Position Grade N Starting Salary Expectations Minimum $96,208 to range midpoint of $117,854. Placement will generally not exceed the mid-point, based on qualifications, experience, and internal equity. Position Grade Salary Range $96208 to $139497 Annual Salary FTE 1.0 PCC Benefits

After one year of management or confidential service, PCC also provides a 2% contribution to a 403(b) account for eligible management and confidential personnel. PCC offers a tax deferred annuity program and a deferred compensation program where employees may save additional pre-tax dollars for retirement.

Additionally, PCC provides a tuition waiver for you, your spouse/domestic partner, and dependent children under 24 years of age, as well as partial tuition reimbursement for full-time employees at other accredited institutions.

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements Work environment includes frequent disruptions and changes in priorities. Work is generally performed in an office environment with frequent interruptions and irregularities in the work schedule. Working hours may vary and occasional evening or weekend work is required. Frequent travel to other locations is required. No special coordination beyond that used for normal mobility and handling of everyday objects and materials is needed to perform the job satisfactorily. Background Check Required Yes
