Applications are invited for appointment as Post-doctoral Fellow in the Department of Surgery, School of Clinical Medicine (Ref.: 515552), to commence as soon as possible for two years, with the possibility of renewal subject to satisfactory performance.

Applicants should have a Ph.D. degree in bioinformatics, computer science, biostatistics, or related disciplines, with hands-on experience in bulk/single cell RNA sequencing data analysis. They should have good interpersonal skills, and the ability to work independently and communicate fluently in English. Working knowledge of programming language and statistical software packages is a must. A good publication record would be an advantage.

The appointee will join a multidisciplinary team to study paediatric surgical disorders including Hirschsprung’s disease, biliary atresia, congenital pulmonary airway malformation affecting newborns, and tumours. He/She will employ tissue/organoid culture, hIPSCs and single cell/bulk transcriptomics technologies, with an aim to provide insights into the pathophysiology, and explore new therapeutic avenues to treat or ameliorate these disorders. He/She will perform bioinformatics analysis, coordinate and communicate analysis with collaborators, write reports and scientific publications, and supervise postgraduate students.
