The new Department of Health Sciences at Providence College (also referred to as “the College” or “PC”) seeks to fill a tenure-track faculty position to begin in either the fall 2022 (i.e., September) or spring 2023 (i.e., January) semesters.

This is an exciting and historic opportunity to join PC’s newly established School of Nursing and Health Sciences and shape an innovative, interdisciplinary curriculum for the next generation of students entering nursing and other healthcare professions. A planned 75,000 – 100,000 sq. ft. state-of-the-art facility, to be located on the PC campus, will house the School and future undergraduate, graduate, and non-degree continuing education programs in development.

As the student body at Providence College grows increasingly diverse, we have a strong preference for candidates who demonstrate a deep commitment to and proven ability in supporting the success of students from historically marginalized economic, social, and cultural groups. Essential Duties
The successful candidate will spearhead the development and instruction of a new two-semester course in Human Anatomy & Physiology for the Health Professions. This integrated didactic and experiential laboratory course will prepare nursing and health sciences undergraduate students for future careers in the health professions as practitioners, researchers, and educators. The successful candidate will collaborate with other PC faculty, professional staff, and equipment vendors to establish a new state-of-the-art teaching-learning facility that is equipped with the latest instructional technologies used in clinical or applied Anatomy and Physiology courses and laboratories.

In addition to this particular course, the successful candidate will also participate in the department’s team-taught senior seminar and capstone in health sciences and will have the opportunity to develop and teach other courses in their area of interest and specialization. The successful candidate will maintain an active scholarly agenda and contribute professional service according to the college’s expectations of tenured/pre-tenured faculty Education and Experience Required
We are seeking applicants with teaching, research, and/or clinical practice expertise in health sciences.

Candidates with an earned doctorate and/or advanced professional training in health sciences, kinesiology, human anatomy and physiology, or closely related fields such as nursing, physical or occupational therapy, or rehabilitation sciences are strongly encouraged to apply.

A doctoral degree is required for this tenure-track appointment.
