The HR Services Manager (HRSM) for Human Resource and Payroll Shared Services is responsible for the continuous management of day-to-day operations for the HR Reporting team. The HR Reporting team support Johns Hopkins University and Johns Hopkins Health System HR Data quality, HR mass load technology and execution, analytics and reporting functions. This position supports HR centers of expertise, such as, Benefits, Employee Relations and Compensation, with complex reporting needs. In addition, the HRSM is a driver of and supports HR systems enhancements, functional changes, dashboard creations and integrations.

HR/Payroll Shared Services provides enterprise HR and Payroll support to Johns Hopkins entities utilizing SAP EC, Fiori tools, Employment Actions (Mendix), Winshuttle, Business Warehouse and Query Manager reporting tools. HR/Payroll Shared Services supports Johns Hopkins University and Johns Hopkins Health Systems with more than 60000 employees, over 50 states and 3 payroll cycles (Semimonthly, Biweekly and Weekly).

Specific Duties & Responsibilities:

The HRSM is responsible for the management of their HR Reporting team including recruiting, training and supporting team members’ duties to ensure the HR Reporting team provides a high standard of customer service to colleagues and creating a positive work experience.

Additionally, the HRSM is responsible for ensuring the adherence of the HR Shared Services and HR Reporting teams to our Service Level Agreement in regards to audit standards and operations. The HR Reporting team ensures data quality in SAP PA/OM modules by running routine and ad hoc reports and working with the other teams in HR/PYSS to resolve data integrity issues.

As a key driver of HR Reporting functionality, the HRSM collaborates regularly with COEs including Benefits, Labor Relations, Compensation, and Training to ensure that across JHU and JHHS, HR reporting needs are being met and results shared in actionable manner. The HRSM will collect report requirements and deliver the best options to ensure the COEs have the reports needed timely and consistently. When necessary the HRSM will collaborate with IT to design and develop on demand reports or dashboards. As new reporting functionality is delivered, the HRSM will ensure that JHU and JHHS Learning management have all necessary information to include new functionality in new and established training. Establishing productive relationships with colleagues and customers across JHU and JHHS is essential to ensure the duties of the HRSM can be completed effectively.

The HRSM is responsible for ensuring the duties of the HR Reporting team are completed timely and accurately including but not limited to

  • HR/Payroll Data Quality reporting and audits
  • Internal HR Reporting process documentation
  • Responding to ad hoc reporting request
  • Routine HR reporting needs
  • Mass data loads are processed accurately and timely
  • Employee Self Service support and functional enhancement testing
  • Implement web-based applications in ASP.NET using SQL databases and JavaScript
  • Respond to inquiries by internal/external auditors for process documentation and/or data samples
  • Ensure HR/PY Shared Services website is updated timely

The HRSM will be required to ensure they are up to date on trends and developments in data management and system security, HR technology, and HRIS applications. Additionally, they must obtain an understanding of JHU and JHHS policies and procedures in order to affectively establish and improve upon current department procedures as related to reporting and audit.

Minimum Qualifications (Mandatory)

  • BS in HR, Business, IT, IS or related fields and 5+ years of experience working in Human Resources or HRIS.
  • 2+ years of supervisory experience
  • 2+ years of experience in reporting function role supporting HR, payroll and benefit units working in an enterprise resource-planning environment or other HRIS/HRSM position.
  • 2+ years of development experience of programming languages ABAP or other equivalent programming languages.
  • 2+ years’ experience with reporting tools and technologies including Advanced Excel skills including v-lookup, pivot tables, charts, graphing, and macros
  • Strong understanding of HCM module, database design, structure, functions and processes

Preferred qualifications:

  • 1+ year of experience with SQL.
  • Experience using SAP PA/OM reporting functions
