Reporting directly to the COTC President and the Ohio State Newark Dean and Director, the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) Director champions the importance and value of a diverse and inclusive college/campus environment and leads the development of a vision and effective strategy to create and support a culture for equity, diversity, and inclusion and advance diversity as a critical component of social, academic, and intellectual life at the college/campus. The DEI Director leads the development and implementation of proactive diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives in support of the institutions' strategic plans to create a learning and working environment where all have an opportunity to succeed. Responsibilities include promoting a culture of inclusion where individuals from all racial and ethnic identities, ages, religions, nationalities, social and economic status, sexual orientation, gender identity/expression, and physical and mental abilities can thrive and be engaged. The DEI Director works across the college and campus, including COTC's three extended campuses, actively engaging with students, faculty, and staff to further behaviors, attitudes, and policies that support diversity, equity, and inclusion. The role collaborates with college/campus stakeholders to identify and assess areas of opportunity; and for increasing awareness and action in support of equity and inclusion values and maintaining compliance with applicable laws.

Additional Information:
$55,000 to $77,500 annually

Minimum Requirements:
• Master's Degree in higher education, social work, public policy, equity studies, social justice, or a relevant field.
• Three years of experience related to developing and implementing diversity and inclusion initiatives.
• Knowledge of best practices in diversity and inclusion; contemporary diversity and inclusion concepts and issues in higher education, including the current scholarship and pedagogical approaches that inform and address these matters; recruitment and retention strategies supporting equity and inclusion; laws, regulations, and guidelines related to diversity, inclusion and nondiscrimination in higher education including Title IX, Title VI, Title VII, Clery Act, ADEA, ADA, and section 504.
• Skill in strong verbal and written communications; listening; collaboration; strong interpersonal skills; cultural awareness; managing change with an understanding of the contexts, cultures, and politics within institutions that impact implementation of effective diversity and change results; using multiple sources of data to inform, prioritize and plan action; tracking performance and accountability processes; cultural awareness; building trust and credibility.
• Ability to articulate the importance of inclusion and diversity; communicate effectively, even when the message may be uncomfortable or unwelcome; partner with faculty in curriculum development efforts that advance diversity and inclusion; identify and collaboratively implement best practices related to diversity, equity, inclusion and the concept of multiculturalism; establish and maintain effective and credible working relationships with diverse groups and across the power spectrum and across multiple dimensions of diversity; promote productive collaboration across multiple groups of stakeholders involved in diversity and equity efforts and establish buy in and consensus across diverse constituencies; maintain confidentiality and sensitive information.
