The Events and Engagement Coordinator, located full-time in Washington DC, is responsible for the development and execution of events in support of all Maxwell Washington DC-based events including small workshops and larger conferences of more than 100 persons as well as programming catering to the needs of Alumni.
Additionally, this individual will coordinate with Maxwell School and external partners on advertising, marketing, and recruitment efforts in support of both semester-long and executive programs such as the Executive Master’s in International Relations. Engagement will include utilizing social media to reach and engage diverse audiences with engaging content across a variety of channels and platforms and monitoring those initiatives for impact. Finally, in coordination with the Maxwell Communications Team, the E&E Coordinator will be responsible for content development and the maintenance of Maxwell in Washington webpages and ensuring website currency including highlighting faculty, staff, and student achievements by posting materials that highlight the work of faculty, students, and alumni with an emphasis on demonstrating the impact that work has had in the broader policymaking arena.

Qualifications
General Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in communications, English, journalism, marketing, writing, or related field is expected, along with 2-3 years of experience in event coordination and digital publishing across website, e-newsletters, and social media.
Communications background and an interest in international affairs and public policy a plus but not required.

Job Specific Qualifications
A highly organized, detail-oriented work style, with excellent initiative and follow-through. Excellent interpersonal communication skills and a highly collaborative nature.
Superior writing and editing skills (samples required), with an emphasis on digital content including web and social media.
Experience with a variety of digital publishing and content management tools, including websites, e-mail newsletters and social media;
A demonstrated interest and ability to adapt quickly to new communications technologies, platforms, and best practices.
An entrepreneurial mindset, with an eye towards continuous improvement of processes and mechanisms for helping the team to meet established business goals: such as improving event reach and attendance and increasing lead generation for Maxwell programs.
Uses data to inform decision-making and to develop actionable insights.
Knowledge of specific software, e.g. Sitefinity, Adobe Creative Suite, especially Photoshop, InDesign and basic HTML editing is desirable but not required. Responsibilities
  • Coordination, promotion, and execution of events catering to student, alumni, and program needs.
  • Marketing and promotion of the Washington DC programs including the EMIR program via multiple channels (e.g. website, in-person, social media, advertisements, etc.)
  • EMIR recruitment support for individual and group meetings, proactive outreach to prospective students, influencers, and organizations, and administrative functions.
  • Internal (Maxwell/Syracuse) communications efforts.
