The College of Health Professions is seeking talented and enthusiastic applicants for a Financial Specialist position. This position will join the CHP Finance team and play a critical role in fiscal management for the College.
Summary:
The position provides oversight and support of the fiscal and administrative functions for the College of Health Professions (CHP). The incumbent is responsible for the daily financial support to the departments to include Procurement, Post-Award, Record keeping and processing fiscal transactions. This position will work within the CHP Finance team under the direction of the Director of Business Services.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Manages post award grant funds for assigned projects in
accordance with federal and industry uniform guidance and
University policy & procedures, as well as sponsor
requirements. This includes the facilitation of Research Dashboard
certifications, 90 day notices, Final expense reports,
sub-recipient invoices, and effort reporting.
- Prepares and tracks Purchase Orders in RealSource, and
processes Pcard requests, working directly with multiple CHP units
and Finance team
- Provides fiscal services to multiple CHP units by executing
monthly reconciliations and supporting Sr. Finance team
- Monitors account balances, research discrepancies
- Processes fiscal Banner transactions
- Ensure university and sponsor compliance with regard to
multiple CHP units
- High school diploma or GED, and 1-3 years of relevant work
experience, or equivalent combination of education, experience and
training.
- Demonstrated experience in working in and fostering a diverse
faculty, staff and student environment or commitment to do so as a
staff member at VCU.
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines,
multi-task and determine priorities
- Proficiency in the daily use of Microsoft Excel, Google suite
and Zoom.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently, and prioritize
multiple complex tasks.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent customer service.
- Knowledge of state and university financial operations,
policies, procedures and systems
- Experience with state/university or higher education
setting
- Experience with university purchasing procedures
- Experience with sponsored programs rules and regulations
- Experience using financial recordkeeping and/or procurement software systems such as Banner Finance or VCU Real Source
- Practical knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
