Job Summary

The Director, Women’s Basketball Operations oversees the day-to-day operations of the intercollegiate Women’s Basketball program.

Job Description

Typical duties may include but are not limited to:
  • Oversees day to day operations of the Women’s Basketball program.
  • Serves as liaison to internal departments and external organizations during away and home games.
  • Coordinates complex team travel and logistics.
  • Monitors program budget.
  • Coordinates the team practice schedule.
  • Assists visiting teams with game day needs.
  • Organizes and manages summer camps.
  • Oversees game preparation.
  • Coordinates recruiting visits and on-campus contacts.
  • Complies with all University, ASUN or CCSA (Coastal Collegiate Sports Association) regulations, as well as all NCAA rules and regulations. Remains current with all changes in NCAA, as well as changes to University, ASUN and CCSA rules and regulations regarding intercollegiate athletics. This includes the requirement for self-reporting any possible rule violations and participation in the annual NCAA continuing education programs including passing the NCAA certification test, if applicable. Any violation of NCAA rules is prohibited and may result in disciplinary action up to and including termination of employment.
Other Duties:
  • Actively participates in promotional and public relations activities for the sports program.
  • Travels throughout the country as assigned.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
Additional Job Description

Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in a relevant field.
  • Two years of full-time related athletics program experience in higher education athletics.
  • Any appropriate combination of relevant education, experience, and/or certifications may be considered.
  • Current American Red Cross CPR/AED certification or ability to obtain within three months of employment.
  • Experience operating a personal computer and proficient in Microsoft office (Word, Excel, and Outlook).
  • Valid driver’s license and the ability to travel throughout the country.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master’s degree from an accredited institution.
  • One year of full-time professional related experience in a National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division I institution.
  • Experience organizing summer camps, maintaining a video library, and managing complex team travel.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
  • Knowledge of all aspects of the sport.
  • Knowledge of applicable National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) rules and regulations and a strong commitment to maintain compliance with those rules and regulations.
  • Knowledge of student-athlete intellectual, emotional and social development and an ability to guide athletes toward successful completion of an undergraduate degree while participating in intercollegiate athletics.
  • Knowledge of inventory control principles and practices.
  • Knowledge of and ability to administer first aid and CPR/AED.
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and an ability to use independent judgment and remain flexible while prioritizing tasks.
  • Ability to interact and represent FGCU professionally with a diverse constituency of students, faculty, alumni, and media.
  • Ability to adapt quickly to changing student-athlete needs.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and discretion at all times.
  • Ability to work evenings, nights, weekends as necessary.
Salary Range: $40,000 to $45,000
