Job Summary:

SuccessWorks at the College of Letters & Science (L&S) is seeking a collaborative, student-centered colleague with a demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) to serve as our Career Events and Programs Manager. This exciting new role will work with SuccessWorks staff to plan and implement over 200 career development events and programs each year for 18,000 L&S students. This position focuses on the following areas:

Individual program and event support
1. Program development and event support: Develop planning practices for events that provide equitable learning experiences to all students, provide program development support to staff, and facilitate presentations to stakeholders.
2. Commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion: Work with colleagues to explore and strategize ways to intentionally support students from historically underrepresented and/or first-generation backgrounds, specifically as it relates to programming.

Organizational-wide program management
3. Programs management and assessment: Manage event calendar details (overseeing event approval process, ensuring accurate event information is collected, and communicating effectively to all stakeholders), develop assessment tools and collect relevant event data.
4. Strategy development and evaluation: Collaborate with the program planning committee to synthesize and evaluate event and program outcomes to help make recommendations for future programs

Responsibilities:

Coordinates and delivers career development programming, resource materials, and/or advising to students and alumni. Educates students, alumni, and other stakeholders about career development and opportunities and maintains relationships to aid in effective career planning. Supervises unit staff and/or has significant program management authority/responsibility, and strives to create a welcoming, equitable, and inclusive work environment.
  • 20% Develops and delivers career development programming and resource materials across various mediums to provide education to students
  • 5% Responds to questions and provides information regarding student services, policies, procedures, and employment preparation
  • 10% May identify and maintain a professional network of employers or other stakeholders to facilitate career exploration and employment opportunities for students
  • 10% Participates in campus-wide career services community providing input to leadership regarding the development of advising, recruitment, and co/curricular programs offered by the school/college/unit
  • 35% Supervises unit staff and/or plans, organizes, allocates resources, assesses performance, and leads the operational activities for a significant portion of the unit's career services portfolio
  • 20% Collaborates with the staff to enhance organizational-wide strategic planning and programming, particularly focused on creating equitable and inclusive experiences for students

Qualifications:

Required: At least two years of professional work experience in developing, managing and implementing events, workshops, fairs, conferences, and/or similar types of programs.
