Position Summary:

This position is a member of the CALS Research Division whose mission is to facilitate research in the College of Agricultural and Life Sciences, striving to help Investigators meet compliance regulations and to foster the ethical stewardship of research funds and sponsor expectations. The Research Division has administrative responsibility for all aspects of extramural research support in the College of Agricultural and Life Sciences.

This position advises and supports pre-award sponsored research activities for faculty and staff in CALS, including but not limited to proposal development and preparation, private sector industry agreements, fee-for service agreements, and non-funded agreements (e.g., material transfer and non-disclosure agreements). In collaboration with CALS faculty, staff, and departments and Research and Sponsored Programs (RSP), this position will also process and facilitate award negotiations and setup.

Activities require interacting directly with investigators, faculty/staff, departments/centers, campus administrators, and sponsors/agencies in preparation, submission, and negotiation of grant and contract proposals and agreements.

Degree and Area of Specialization:

BA/BS degree required

Minimum Years and Type of Relevant Work Experience:

Previous research or sponsored programs administration experience required.

-Experience with grants, contracts, and sponsored research; federal and non-federal sponsors/agencies; program, budgetary, regulatory, and compliance requirements desired.

-Ability to work effectively with UW faculty/staff; administrators at other universities/institutions; federal/non-federal sponsors; private industry; and contracting officers.

-Skills required: effective oral and written communication; flexibility in accepting work assignments; ability to meet deadlines and prioritize workload; independent problem solving and analytical abilities; comprehensive working knowledge of computing environments/software; and strengths in organization, multi-tasking, reasoning/logic, mathematics, and training.

-Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment.
