Reporting to the Senior Associate Athletic Director for Academics, Compliance & Financial Aid, the position supports the management of the athletics compliance area of the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics.
  1. Serves as a primary NCAA compliance authority for the Department develops, implements and oversees programs to ensure compliance with all University, Conference and NCAA rules and regulations governing intercollegiate athletics operations, with a primary focus on monitoring of recruiting activities and eligibility.
  2. Manages the daily operations of the Athletic Compliance Office, including supervision of staff. In conjunction with Sr. Associate AD, regularly review and update compliance policies and procedures to ensure UH Athletics best practices are and remain aligned with NCAA legislative updates, industry expectations, and university standards.
  3. Establish and manage a comprehensive rules education program and provide regular rules education to athletic department and university staff, prospective and current student-athletes, boosters, and other university constituents.
  4. Ensure compliance with NCAA, conference, and institutional financial aid rules and regulations and manage and maintain NCAA squad lists.
  5. Directly responsible for UH Athletics adherence to NCAA rules associated with personnel, amateurism, recruiting, awards and benefits, playing and practice, and sports sponsorship
  6. Directly responsible for UH Athletics adherence to NCAA guidelines and state laws associated with Name, Image, and Likeness (NIL), Player Agent, and Professional Sports Counseling programs
  7. Serves as the department�s liaison with university constituents on compliance matters related to student-athletes.
  8. Manages the eligibility certification process in coordination with athletics certifying official (university registrar); responsible for the monitoring of satisfactory academic progress of incoming and current student-athletes pursuant to NCAA rules
  9. May serve as a Sport Administrator for assigned athletics programs.Serve as spokesperson/ambassador for the Athletics Department and the University of Houston. At all times and in all settings represent the Department and University in a way that positively reflects and grows affinity for all things UH.Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

Qualifications :

Bachelors and 7 years experience

Education: Requires a thorough understanding of both theoretical and practical aspects of an analytical, technical or professional discipline; or the basic knowledge of more than one professional discipline. Knowledge of the discipline is normally obtained through a formal, directly job-related 4 year degree from a college or university or an equivalent in-depth specialized training program that is directly related to the type of work being performed.Experience: Requires a minimum of seven (7) years of directly job-related experience.
