Job Summary

Tutor students enrolled in JCCC Foreign Language (FL/ASL) classes, embedded in FL/ASL classes, online, and in the LRC. Visit FL/ASL classes to announce/advertise tutoring services, and to assist as needed. Assist in the Language Resource Center as needed. Maintain cleanliness and organization of materials in tutoring area.

Required Qualifications

1 year of college completed.
Minimum completion of intermediate skills in Japanese
Excellent communication skills in both English and Japanese
Ability to work independently but take direction as needed
Ability to learn and utilize effective tutoring techniques following best practices
Native-like speaker proficiency
Ability to explain grammar, sentence structure, and usage in the Japanese, both orally and in written form, in a one to one or small group setting

Preferred Qualifications

Prior tutoring experience
Additional credit hours in target language beyond Intermediate skills
Native speaker
