Job Summary

School of Resort and Hospitality Management (SRHM) is a School within the Lutgert College of Business, and offers a newly revised BS in Resort and Hospitality Administration starting Fall 2020. A recent program review involving both internal and external stakeholders resulted in a redesigned, high-impact curriculum that ensures students acquire both cutting-edge knowledge and essential business competencies. The program is dually accredited by ACPHA and AACSB.

SRHM is seeking to fill one position at the Assistant/Associate Professor Level. Although all specialties will be considered, preference will be given to the areas in Lodging Management and Events Management.

The Resort & Hospitality Administration program Assistant/Associate Professor will teach at the undergraduate level, be involved in course and/or curriculum development; research/scholarship; participate on College and University committees and/or initiatives. The successful candidate will demonstrate credentials consistent with “Scholarly Academic” classification under the AACSB faculty qualifications. While all specialties will be considered, preference will be given to candidates with specialty in Lodging Management and Event Management.

Job Description

Essential Job Duties

Teaches three (3) classes a semester, Fall and Spring. Conducts scholarly activities commensurate with rank, serves on college & university committees, and mentors students & liaison with hospitality community.

Required Qualifications
  • Earned Doctorate from an accredited institution in Hospitality Administration or closely related discipline.
  • Professional work experience in hospitality related business operation.
  • Experience teaching undergraduate hospitality courses.
  • Demonstrated ability to conduct research and place quality scholarship in appropriate academic journals.
  • Candidates must have an earned doctorate from an accredited institution; ABDs who can provide evidence of completion of their doctoral program by summer 2022 will also be considered for the Assistant Professor position.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience teaching undergraduate (and graduate, where applicable) event management, special events, & events marketing courses or Lodging Management, Lodging Operations, and Lodging Analytics.
  • Managerial work experience in the hospitality industry, particularly in the lodging and event segments.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Experience or commitment to the application of sound theoretical and pedagogical practices specific to teaching and learning pertinent to university teaching. Interest in collaborating both within and outside the University in the development and delivery of instruction resulting in improved student learning. Must value continued scholarship and service to the school and university.
