Position Summary

This position will share responsibility for the coordination of the operation of the Human Research Protections Program ( HRPP ) and Institutional Review Board ( IRB ) function. Primary coordination responsibilities include representation and assistance with implementation of the program to researchers and external researchers and sponsors. Based on experience and knowledge of the program, the incumbent will disseminate information about and assist investigators in the preparation of IRB applications. The candidate will coordinate the preparation of applications for presentation to the IRB and will independently determine adequacy of the application and level of review required.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
o Screen new and renewal applications: contact and advise investigators in preparation and completion of application process.
o Prepare meeting agendas, assists with minutes and meeting determination communications to researchers.
o Assign applications to committee and assist with primary reviewer assignments.
o Maintain record and filing system: paper and computer based files.
o Assist other program coordinators when necessary.
o Answer and refer telephone calls.
o Filing and copying as requested.
o Proof and edit IRB correspondence as requested.
o Other duties as requested.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree preferred. Minimum of 1 year in research administration, with experience directly related to human subjects research. Candidate must have excellent organizational and oral/written communication skills, familiarity with medical terminology, strong interpersonal, problem solving and collaboration skills, ability to interact professionally with MDs and PHDs, ability to maintain professional standards under routine conditions of demanding time constraints and proficient in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Access.
Preferred Qualifications

Previous program management and/or IRB experience preferred.
