Job Summary

Reporting to the Executive Director of Human Resources, the Director of Compensation Administration will assist HR Leadership in planning, developing, organizing, and implementing compensation strategies for the College. The incumbent will partner with departmental leaders to ensure that the compensation programs provide efficient and effective services that support the College’s ongoing needs. They will foster a team environment and a strong service culture that ensures engaging communications, timely and quality-driven service to internal customers and College stakeholders.

The incumbent must be a detailed critical thinker and respond quickly in a fast-paced environment to meet the demands of multiple stakeholders. The work’s volume, complexity, and unpredictable nature requires excellent organization, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Performance Requirements*
• Assists the Executive Director with implementing human resources strategies
• Provides day-to-day oversight of assigned human resources functions
• Responds to inquiries regarding policies, procedures, programs, and compliance issues accurately and timely
• Provides leadership and supervision to a team of professional and administrative support employees responsible for compensation-related responsibilities
• Leads any compensation review projects, including design, resource allocation, project management, and communication planning related to survey participation, market pricing practices, salary structures, budget recommendations, and market analysis
• Conducts market research, internal analysis, establishing design principles, building design alternatives, outlining implications through modeling, determining employee and cost impacts, and creating communication and transition plans
• Influences the direction and designs solutions for compensation programs by understanding the business, anticipating, and diagnosing organizational needs, and utilizing best practice knowledge
• Manages operations for the department, job and salary infrastructure, vendor management, and compliance with FLSA and other regulatory requirements

Management Consultation
• Communicates and interprets TCCD policy and procedures internally and externally
• Consults on compensation issues and solutions ranging from individual employee recommendations to unique compensation program interventions (e.g., retention programs, one-time payments, off-cycle increases, etc.)
• Partners with leadership and provides technical expertise to ensure practical use of compensation best practices

General Supervision and Management
• Responsible for the personnel management, evaluation, and development of assigned administrative and professional-level direct reports

Service Excellence
• Ensures the development of rapport and relationship with human resources customers, internal and external stakeholders
• Completes all required training and professional development sessions as required and appropriate for the role
• Visibility requires maintaining a professional appearance and providing a positive image to internal and external customers/stakeholders
• Supports the values of the College: diversity, teaching excellence, student success, innovation and creativity, and service to the College
• Supports the mission, values, and three goals, and eight principles of the College
• Attends the workplace regularly; reports to work punctually, and follows a work schedule to keep up with the demands of the worksite

Required Education, Experience, Certifications, Licensures

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Higher Education Administration, Public Administration, Human Resources, or related field
• Five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in compensation administration
• Three (3) years of supervising employees (e.g., managing and evaluation performance of others)

Desired Education, Experience, Certifications, Licensures

• Master’s degree in Accounting, Higher Education Administration, Public Administration, Human Resources, or related field
• Compensation certification

Knowledge, Skills and Ability

• Ability to think critically to effectively solve and communicate problems in a fast-paced environment where the demands for work are varied and unpredictable in scope and volume
• Ability to analyze data and provide sound recommendations based on policy, procedure, practice, and existing regulations
• Ability to focus on tasks and handle frequent interruptions and changes in priorities
• Ability to work independently, after hours, holidays, and weekends when needed
• Intermediate skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint
• Ability to communicate effectively in both written and oral format
• Ability to establish collaborative relationships
• Ability to organize, analyze and prioritize work, and data of self and direct reports
• Skilled in policy and procedure interpretation, development, implementation, and training
• Able to exercise practical judgment, sensitivity, creativity to changing needs and situations
• Ability to effectively present complex information to diverse groups and individuals
• Ability to travel to the different college locations for problem resolution, meetings, and training etc.
