The University of Akron, LeBron James Family Foundation School of Education, and The University of Akron Wayne Campus Educational Foundations Department are seeking a full-time contract professional to coordinate the Primary Inclusive Teacher Preparation (PITP) program at the Wayne Campus in Orrville, Ohio. The PITP program is a dual license program that makes candidates eligible to teach children identified as typically developing as well as those with mild, moderate, and intensive learning needs from Pre-K through Grade 5.

 


Responsibilities:

Essential functions include: coordination and supervision of clinical education sites and student teachers; coordination with the School of Education to standardize curriculum and clinical experiences; conducting meetings with student teachers, cooperating teachers, and administrators; maintaining currency in state requirements for licensure; adhering to policies set by The University of Akron and State of Ohio; monitoring progress of teacher candidates and using data to make teacher education / clinical program decisions in consultation with the Director of Student Teaching; and other tasks related to field experiences (ex. travel to field sites and Akron) as necessary.

 

This position may include teaching, recruitment activities, and additional tasks as needed.


Required Qualifications:

A relevant Master's Degree or above; must hold or have held an educator license that allows for student teacher supervision / evaluation; a minimum of three years of experience teaching in early childhood / elementary / middle school classrooms; and knowledge of national / state standards for the teaching profession



Preferred Qualifications:

Knowledge of CAEP accreditation standards and processes; demonstrated mentorship skills in preparing pre-service teachers for success; experience with teacher candidates and teachers; demonstrated experience with collaboration with academic advisers, district partners, students, campus supervisors, and parents; and team building and development of primary partnerships.

Salary:
The salary range for this position starts at $50,000.00 annually, commensurate with experience and qualifications. We offer a competitive compensation and comprehensive benefits package.
