Position:   DEAN OF ACADEMIC TECHNOLOGY AND INSTRUCTIONAL DESIGN

 

Reporting to the Associate Provost for Academic Innovation, Online Education and Global Opportunities. The incumbent provides strategic leadership and direct supervision of the following Academic Technology (AT) functions: Instructional Technology Deployment & Integration, LMS Administration and Support, Classroom Technology Services, Technology Training, and Digital Production Services. The Dean provides leadership and support in the design and implementation of academic technology for online, hybrid, blended, hyflex, enhanced and face-to-face courses. Oversees instruction and curriculum design in e-learning projects, training programs, annual conferences and support services for faculty and staff using technology to improve academic functions throughout the institution. They will develop and implement a strategic plan for growth of fully online, remote, hybrid, hyflex, and enhanced learning experiences across all college divisions. Position responsibilities include budget preparation and monitoring, staff management, course review, new program development, and assessment.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide vision and strategic leadership in developing and implementing online programs across all divisions of the College.
  • Advise the Associate Provost on the mission, vision, goals, and objectives for online educational offerings. Develop and, with the approval of the Associate Provost, implement a strategic plan for online education.
  • Be proficient with the Learning Management Systems and manage instructional designers, LMS administrators, and other stakeholders.
  • Coordinate the integration of the Information Technology department’s various computer applications into online learning; develop online programs in various instructional modalities.
  • Work collaboratively with Divisional Deans to plan course development and redevelopment; course offerings each semester; faculty performance standards for online courses and hiring of online faculty.
  • Maintain external contracts for software, consortia leases/agreements and online learning applications.
  • Maintain knowledge of instructional technologies and latest training and development research by attending workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks participating in professional societies, publishing in industry journals.
  • Collaborate with Information Technology Services (ITS) to ensure learning management system (LMS) availability and integrity.
  • Oversee and direct all activities related to planning, development, implementation, and evaluation of online and digital educational product creation.
  • Collaborate with the Grants Office to identify external funding sources to support online education at the College.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

 

Required Qualifications:

Master's Degree in related field required and • 5-7 years of experience leading digital content development and management, assessment, and outcomes measurement in higher education. Five (5) plus years in a strategic leadership role in higher education. Experience working for an Online Program Management company highly desirable. Experience teaching and developing curriculum in higher education with a strong background in curriculum development. Demonstrated experience leading teams in evolving and rapidly changing online course and program production environments.

 

Starting Salary:     Commensurate with experience
