MBA Admissions seeks a Marketing Director to oversee all efforts to reach an outstanding and diverse set of potential applicants and help them imagine themselves at Harvard Business School as students. We seek someone with excellent people management skills, an analytical approach, and strong interpersonal skills to play a key role on an engaging, high-performing team. The marketing team consists of ten HBS employees as well as additional contractors and interns. In addition to marketing responsibilities, the Marketing Director will play a key role on the MBA Admissions Board, evaluating applications and interviewing candidates.

Job-Specific Responsibilities:

Oversee MBA admissions outreach and yield strategies using a data-driven approach

Directly manage four marketing team leaders (Outreach, Diversity Outreach, Yield, and Digital) and lead the broader marketing team including:

  • Lead, inspire, and invest in the professional development of the marketing team
  • Manage regular marketing meetings within the team and with external partners
  • Represent team and HBS as a presenter in a variety of meetings and events
  • Lead the marketing team to:
  • Shape marketing messaging across all channels, segmented by audience, to build awareness, engagement, and excitement through the applicant journey
  • Support and extend efforts to diversify the applicant pool on many dimensions
  • Build awareness for new programs (e.g., joint degrees) or initiatives
  • Deliver outreach and yield events on campus, around the world, and online
  • Deploy digital marketing efforts including paid and organic social, email, blogs
  • Create innovative new video content and continually refine web content
  • Execute a robust yield strategy for admitted students
  • Execute large/multi-day events such as Summer Venture in Management Program and Admitted Student Welcome
  • Develop relationships with faculty, alumni, and other stakeholders around HBS as well as external partners
  • Optimize portfolio of marketing activities and channels
  • Partner closely with Operations team on analytics (e.g., Tableau dashboard, Qualtrics)
  • Contribute to community of marketing leaders across HBS, including central Marketing and Communications, Exec Ed, HBS Online, MBA, and Alumni Relations
  • Evaluate MBA admissions candidates through application review and interviewing as a full member of the MBA Admissions Board
  • Other duties as assigned

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Strong experience managing teams to achieve impact at scale by inspiring and supporting individual team members and partners to achieve goals
  • Experience and interest in advancing diversity, equity, and inclusion among our applicant pool and as an organization
  • Exceptional interpersonal, communication, and listening skills
  • Ability to travel extensively within the U.S. and internationally
  • 8+ years of experience

Additional Qualifications and Skills:

Nice to have one or more of the following:

  • MBA degree
  • Marketing experience
  • Talent identification, evaluation, selection, or hiring experience
  • Higher education experience

Additional Information:

During the current period of COVID-19 related restrictions, this position may start as a remote position with the transition to onsite at HBS campus in Boston, MA when the office reopens.
