The Department of Otolaryngology is seeking a Research Technologist who will work in the Imaging Science Research Laboratory at Johns Hopkins University. The primary duties include, but are not limited to the following: processing and analyzing human neuroimages as well as content and minor HTML updates for the Research Lab.

Specific Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Manage web maintenance for the Research laboratory.
  • Implementation new web-based tools and technologies to support the Research laboratory, in collaboration with the Software Services team as needed.
  • Proactively identify opportunities to improve overall web maintenance process.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously, organize workflow, set priorities, consistently meet deadlines, and adhere to research laboratory standards of rigor and excellence.

Minimum Qualifications (Mandatory):

  • Bachelor's Degree in Biology, Chemistry or related field.
  • Some related post-undergraduate work experience preferred.
  • Experience in a web authoring environment preferred, i.e. experience in maintaining or developing websites.
  • Demonstrated ability to clearly communicate verbally and via email with multiple audiences.
  • Experience using web-based content management systems (e.g., Javascript, WordPress) strongly desired.
  • Ability to establish priorities and to plan and monitor own work plan.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to research, troubleshoot, and analyze data.
  • Knowledge of emerging web technologies, especially those that relate to communication with collaborators and the public (social media and interactive web and mobile applications).
  • Proven team participation and responsibility with regard to technical projects and initiatives in a complex organization.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with responsive design.
  • Knowledge of social and mobile media, including Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn.
  • Familiarity with JavaScript and JQuery and with managing web sites within a Content Management System.
  • Experience with design related tools including Adobe CS4/5 Photoshop and Illustrator.

Starting Salary Range: $15.00 - $20.00/hr (commensurate with experience)

This may include documentation of having two (2) MMR vaccines; two (2) Varicella vaccines; or antibody status to these diseases from laboratory testing. Blood tests for immunities to these diseases are ordinarily included in the pre-employment physical exam except for those employees who provide results of blood tests or immunization documentation from their own health care providers. Any vaccinations required for these diseases will be given at no cost in our Occupational Health office.
