Department:
The Social Science Education program in the School of Teacher Education at Florida State University invites applications for a twelve-month, instructional position at the rank of Teaching Faculty I. We seek a colleague to support the program in its commitment to preparing high-quality professionals as social studies teachers. The position will begin in August 2022 and offers the opportunity to work in a major research university with accomplished and innovative faculty committed to transforming the field of education.

Responsibilities:
Major responsibilities
include:
- Coordinating and leading the Social Studies Education program, including but not limited to: (a) advising and mentoring, (b) planning field experiences (i.e., practicum and internship), (c) supervising field experiences, (d) planning curriculum, and (e) reporting for annual program approval
- Teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in the Social Studies Education program and across teacher preparation programs grounded in issues of race, diversity, equity, and culture in education
- Serving on student graduate committees
- Providing service to schools, the University, Department, College, and the profession
- Growing and supporting existing community partnerships with local school districts and service organization.
Qualifications:
- Commitment to and experience with working with diverse student populations
- Earned doctorate in Social Studies Education (or a related field) by August 2022
- Three years of teaching experience in grades 6-12 social studies
- Strong organizational and interpersonal skills
Preferences:
- Experience teaching anti-racist pedagogy and diversity-related methods courses
- Experience in social studies teacher education
- K-12 certification in social studies education
