Career and Employer Relations Specialist (PT)

Salary: $21.00 per hour

MVCC is seeking a part-time Career and Employer Relations Specialist to serve as a liaison between the Office of Career Services and specific academic departments to align services and events with the specific needs of the academic discipline and corresponding industry or career field. The successful candidate will assist with career fairs, career assessments, resume development, interview preparation, job searches, effective use of social media and applied learning. This position supports our students and graduates in the realization of the next steps in their career path.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Manages communication with partners from local business and agencies to facilitate postings for career and internship opportunities;
  • Serves as a liaison to an academic school, collaborating with faculty to support career development of students through class presentations and programming;
  • Provides programming and assistance to students with career planning, job search development and professional skills;
  • Coordinates Career Fairs, Internship Fairs and Job Shadowing programs;
  • Provides individual career counseling to assist student with their choice of academic curriculum;
  • Performs other duties related to the job description and as assigned by the Coordinator of Career Services.


Qualifications:


Required Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree
  • Three years of related work experience in a community college setting
  • Experience working with diverse populations
  • Strong written and verbal communication, interpersonal skills, computer literacy and critical thinking abilities
  • Possession of a valid driver’s license at the time of hire and throughout employment
  • Ability to work occasional evenings and weekends


Preferred Qualifications:

Experience in a college or university setting working directly with students, knowledge of student development, career counseling, advising, and case management experience.
