The Department of Management in the John Chambers College of Business and Economics (B&E) at West Virginia University invites applications for a Term Appointment Professor (non-tenure track) at the Teaching Assistant Professor level starting in Summer/Fall 2022. This job position is primarily to support the new Online Master of Science in Human Resource Leadership. Salary and benefits are competitive in relation to other business schools that are accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB). Salary and benefits are appropriate for experience and qualifications. The position and start date are subject to approval by the WVU Board of Governors.

The primary areas of responsibility are teaching (80%) and service / administration (20%). Teaching Assistant Professors in the Management Department have typically taught four courses each semester. However, the teaching load is different for those with additional responsibilities of a program coordinator. These courses would be across undergraduate and graduate courses (face-to-face, online, or hybrid) in the Management Department. The specific courses have not yet been assigned to this position and may depend on the qualifications and interests of the candidate. Examples of functional teaching areas could include staffing and selection, labor management relations, training and development, and total rewards systems.

West Virginia University (and The John Chambers College of Business and Economics) is especially interested in qualified candidates who can contribute, through their research, teaching, and/or service, to the diversity and excellence of the academic community.

Qualifications :

The ideal candidate should have earned a doctoral degree in management, human resources, labor relations, industrial-organizational psychology, or a related field by August 2022. Prior teaching experience at the college level and a record of scholarly activity within the last 5 years (e.g., publications in peer-reviewed journals, conference presentations, editorial board service) are expected.

Special consideration will be given to candidates with prior teaching experience in HR-related disciplines. Because this position will require the selected candidate to create original online and/or face-to-face courses, experience with instructional design is desired.

Application Process

Review of applications will begin immediately and will continue until the position is filled. For priority consideration, applications should be submitted by January 1, 2022. Electronic submissions of application with supporting credentials must be submitted through the WVU Faculty Jobs Board, WVUHire at https://jobs.wvu.edu . Applicants are strongly encouraged to submit the following items electronically: (1) a letter of interest, (2) curriculum vitae, (3) philosophy of teaching statement, (4) evidence of teaching effectiveness (e.g., prior teaching evaluations, syllabi, etc.) and (5) contact information for three references.

General inquiries should be directed to Dr. Kayla Follmer, Chair of the Search Committee at kayla.follmer@mail.wvu.edu .
