A.T. Still University invites applications for an Assistant Director - Wellness on the Mesa, Arizona campus. This position reports to the Director of Behavioral Health & Wellness.

Job Purpose:
  • Student-driven professional, passionate about wellness, health promotion and prevention with responsibilities to design and implement wellness programming across AZ, MO, and CA campuses at ATSU.
  • The position is based on the ATSU Arizona-Mesa Campus.
  • Provides leadership and promotion of the Still-Well student wellness programs and support institution-wide health promotion and well-being efforts.
  • Shares the vision and mission of the department and university, is a student advocate and supports a multicultural and diverse campus environment.
  • Collaborates with various department, campus, and university constituencies to strategically plan health and wellness programming efforts.
Major Job Duties:
  • Plan and implement innovative and comprehensive, cutting-edge, evidenced-based, and holistic wellness education, prevention programs, and services for students.
  • Expand scope of wellness program offerings delivered to students at all ATSU campuses.
  • Support institution-wide health promotion and well-being efforts.
  • Commitment to excellence in all areas of wellness and prevention programs and services.
  • Inspire positive behaviors with contemporary marketing, communications, and social norming.
  • Communicate effectively with the Director of Behavioral Health and Wellness on all department activities and issues.
  • Create and implement wellness programming across AZ, MO, and CA campuses with Director of BH&WC.
  • Co-Chair and promote the Still-Well student wellness programs.
  • Provide stress management or stress reducing activities for students.
  • Utilize data to assess the needs of programming and assesses programming effectiveness and outcomes.
  • Provide regular metric reports on student use of services and programs.
  • Other duties as assigned by Director or AVP.
Job Responsibilities:
  • Provide leadership to create and implement ATSU wide wellness programs.
  • Lead and promote Still-Well.
  • Outreach and promotion of mental health programs and resources.
  • Work on university committees as assigned.
  • Work with community organizations.
  • Establish annual wellness goals and objectives for study body.
  • As a salaried employee, may work beyond 40 hrs./week, including evenings and weekends (as needed).
  • Participate in approved professional development and conferences.
Skills/Requirements:
  • Masters Degree Public Health, Health Education, Health Promotion, Counseling, Social Work, Psychology or equivalent.
  • May have 2+ years’ experience in wellness education, prevention, health promotion, or a related field (preferably in higher education).
  • Skilled communicator who is able to deliver clear, concise presentations and reports.
  • Lifelong learner in this quickly evolving field - Marketing and promotion of events and services.
  • A passion for growing, developing and empowering students on wellness initiatives.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills and the ability to lead, supervise and motivate others.
  • The ability to build and sustain effective collaboration with university and community partners.
  • An ability to quickly assess and problem-solve in complex situations through effective listening, consultation, data analysis and critical thinking skills.
  • Strong assessment and analytical skills
  • Leadership and organization skills to be able to work on various multidisciplinary teams/committees.
  • Ability to represent the university in ambassadorial position.
  • Knowledge of:
    • Wellness education, prevention, and health promotion (preferably in higher education).
    • Wellness programming to include multi-dimensional perspective of wellness.
    • Promotion and marketing skills to gain student involvement in wellness initiatives to include drug/alcohol prevention.
    • Skills to obtain and analyze data.
    • May have clinical experience and skills and provide mental health services.
