Associate Research Scholar
The Graduate School of Journalism at Columbia University invites applications for a full-time position as Associate Research Scholar.
The Tow Center for Digital Journalism at the Columbia Journalism School is seeking an Associate Research Scholar to contribute to various research projects at the intersection of technology and journalism, with a focus on disinformation. The Associate Research Scholar will work on a project that investigates and maps disinformation operations in the 2022 Brazilian elections.
This scholar will contribute to white papers, scholarly research, tools, and events/workshops. This appointment is for one year.
The requirements for the Associate Research Scholar are a deep and demonstrable knowledge of the research field with one’s own published works, excellent project management and editorial skills, a track record in organizing successful events with a strong academic or policy component, and a thorough understanding of the role technology plays in the transformation of journalism. The ideal candidate would be a researcher with relevant experience in disinformation campaigns and influence on social media platforms.
Minimum Degree Required:
Bachelor’s or equivalent
Minimum Qualifications:
Demonstrated experience with journalism research. An active member in the digital journalism community or the journalism research community.
Demonstrated ability to produce research that contains original ideas and analysis and that is timely, rigorous, authoritative, and relevant to the journalism industry.
Preferred Qualifications:
Advanced degree in journalism, communications, media, technology, or a closely related field preferred.
Candidates with experience working in research and development in journalism, communications, or a related field also considered.
