Lecturer/Assistant Teaching Professor/Associate Teaching Professor/Full Teaching Professor

About Northeastern:
Founded in 1898, Northeastern is a global research university and a world leader in experiential learning. The same commitment to connecting with the world drives our use-inspired research enterprise. The university offers a comprehensive range of undergraduate and graduate programs leading to degrees through the doctorate in nine colleges and schools around the globe. Our campus in Vancouver is a regional platform for graduate learning, collaborative research, and community impact. Our teaching commitment is to graduate students who have developed intellectual skills and abilities that prepare them to become self-directed learners, to continue learning in work-based environments, and to be able to transition to new jobs and careers throughout their professional lives.

About the Opportunity:
The Khoury College of Computer Sciences at Northeastern University invites applications for one or more positions at the rank of Lecturer/Assistant Teaching Professor/Associate Teaching Professor/Full Teaching Professor beginning September 2021 at our campus in Vancouver, where we offer our Master of Science in Computer Science Program. We also offer the Align program, an initiative to close the tech diversity gap by offering an innovative Master of Science in CS for non-computer science majors. Full-time appointments at all ranks are renewable, career-focused, non-tenure-track positions with responsibilities in teaching and service.

We are seeking highly-motivated individuals committed to excellence in teaching across all areas of computer science. The successful candidate will create course content and materials, and they will collaborate with colleagues to develop new academic relationships within the university and the local community. Building relationships with students and service to the college and university are integral components of the position. Opportunities for research and scholarship are possible on the teaching track (with a reduced course load). Several of our teaching track faculty are also active in diversity initiatives and service to the local Vancouver community.

Khoury College has grown rapidly over the last five years in response to increased student demand at the BS, MS, and PhD levels and we expect to continue this rapid growth for the next several years. We invite you to join a fast-moving, ambitious college with an underlying mission that is driven by our motto of “CS for Everyone.” Khoury College is committed to diversity and inclusion in computer science. We aim to establish a computing population—students, faculty, researchers, and staff—that reflects today's global society.

Candidates must hold a PhD in Computer Science or related degree from an accredited institution by the start date. Demonstrated ability or potential for teaching excellence is required; new PhDs with a strong interest in teaching are encouraged to apply. Rank of appointment will be determined based upon prior experience and will be discussed with candidates during the interview process.

Successful candidates will have demonstrated an expert grasp of knowledge of the field at all levels and be creative in their approach to teaching in an environment of cooperative, interdisciplinary, and experiential education. Strong written, oral, and interpersonal skills are required in order to communicate effectively with students in person and online
