The Division of Physical Therapy, housed within the Department of Rehabilitation Sciences and the College of Health Professions at the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC), invites applications for two open ranked, 12-month faculty positions with a teaching emphasis. Candidates will join a productive team of senior and junior faculty within the Division, Department, and College and will be core faculty in the Doctor of Physical Therapy Program, expected to teach an agreed-upon teaching load within their area of expertise or need of the Division. The preferred candidates will have earned doctoral degrees (PhD, EdD, or equivalent). Candidates with a Doctorate of Physical therapy with a ABPTS-certified clinical specialization will be considered. Successful candidates will be expected to contribute to the teaching mission of the Division of Physical Therapy. Additional teaching opportunities may be available within the Doctoral Program in Health and Rehabilitation Science or the Post-professional PT Residency programs. The DPT program is a hybrid model that prepares evidence-based, ethical, inclusive, and compassionate physical therapists to provide collaborative care that is patient/client focused. We are seeking candidates who are at the forefront of driving physical therapy education forward through the implementation of innovative teaching models that empower student learning. Ideal candidates should demonstrate engagement in the national conversation about the future of physical therapy education. Candidates with all backgrounds relevant to rehabilitation will be fully considered. Candidates with expertise in geriatrics or related topics are particularly encouraged to apply.

 

State of the art lecture and laboratory facilities are available for teaching both traditional lecture and laboratory-based classes. Physical Therapy faculty regularly collaborate with educators in other colleges at MUSC, notably including the College of Medicine and clinical departments. Requirements of the Faculty Members

  1. A terminal academic degree (PhD, EdD, )
  2. Doctorate of PhyscialTherapy and ABPTS Certified Specialization

Preferences of the Faculty Members

  1. Previous academic and teaching experience in an area relevant to geriatrics, but candidates from all backgrounds are encouraged to apply
  2. Eligibility for licensure as a physical therapist in South
  3. Evidence of Scholarly Engagement (i.e.presentations, publications, etc)

Duties of the Faculty Members

  • Teaching to be defined based on the candidate.
  • Advise students within the Division of Physical Therapy on academic and professional development.
  • Serve as a role model to students in the Divisions, Department, College, and across the University.
  • Participate in Division, Department, College, University, and professional organization service, develop professional and program growth and visibility. Participate in interprofessional service activities at the college and university
  • Participate in interprofessional service activities at the college and university level.
  • Engage in research and scholarly endeavors that support the Division, Department and College strategic plans.
