PATHOLOGY, ANATOMY AND LABORATORY MEDICINE
The Anatomy Division within the Department of Pathology, Anatomy
and Laboratory Medicine (PALM) at West Virginia University invites
applications for a faculty position of Anatomist/Medical Educator.
This non-tenured and full-time position will have a major
commitment to teaching medical, dental, nursing, or other
health-related students in the field of the Anatomical Sciences
(gross anatomy, histology, neuroanatomy, and embryology).
Appointment will be made at an academic rank of Assistant or
Associate Professor, based upon previous experience.
This position reports directly to the Vice Chair/Director of the
Anatomy Division within the PALM department. Educational
requirements include a PhD or MD or Clinical Professional Degree
equivalent with a background in clinically/surgically-oriented
anatomy. Cadaveric dissection skills within a gross anatomy
laboratory are required. Preferred candidates should have the
desire and ability to deliver excellent instruction, to engage in
scholarly activities and innovation, and to expand their knowledge
base in other areas, such as histology (microanatomy) or
neuroanatomy. Past experiences teaching different cohorts of
students (physician assistants, nursing, pharmacy, physical and
occupational therapy, or other professional students) will be
highly regarded. The candidate should be able to sustain a positive
working environment and strive to meet high standards for
excellence in education, scholarship, and service.
