We are seeking a motivated and qualified machine learning researcher to join the Intelligent Health Lab (i-Heal) at the University of Florida as a postdoctoral associate. Our group focuses on transforming patient care in the intensive care unit (ICU) by developing autonomous monitoring tools using advanced machine learning techniques.

Your role would be to lead, develop, and publish impactful research applying data-driven methods for answering clinical questions and improving patient care. Healthcare data will come from a variety of sources including electronic health records (EHR), sensor time series and waveforms, and patient videos. Our research spans a wide range of domains and clinical applications, including intelligent ICUs, physiological and cognitive monitoring, sensors, mHealth, and more. The successful candidate will make effective contributions towards ongoing research projects, and will design, implement, and lead new clinically relevant projects.

This position is available immediately. Support is available for at least 2 years and can be extended based on candidate performance and availability of funds.

Mandatory Qualifications:
  • PhD degree in computer science, statistics, or related fields
  • Significant experience in machine learning, deep learning, and/or data science
  • Proficient in Python
  • Track record of innovative research and successful publication
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work both independently and in a team
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with healthcare data is a plus
  • Experience with PyTorch, TensorFlow, or Keras is a plus
  • Experience working with EMG signals, time series, or computer vision is a plus
