Provides professional advice and assistance to student organizations in planning, organizational development and student activities.

  1. Advises student leaders, boards, councils, and cabinets on organizational development, program planning and fiscal operations.
  2. Facilitates and implements campus activities leadership programs, orientations, workshops, mediations and retreats.
  3. Interprets UH policies and procedures, organizational constitutions and by-laws for student leaders.
  4. Provides on-call support for registered student organizations, students and outside parties regarding university procedures for events held on campus.
  5. Monitors organizational budgets and fiscal operations of student organizations.
  6. Provides guidance and leadership for compensated student leaders.
  7. May prepare contracts with vendors for services provided to student organizations in compliance with university guidelines and policies.
  8. Assists in the maintenance of required records for student organizations.
  9. Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

  • Directly coordinate and advise the Student Program Board and the Council for Cultural Activities, a University fee-funded and Sponsored Organization. This role is heavily involved in advising the student leaders in executive and board roles, serves as a liaison between the Center for Student Involvement and steering committees, and partners with campus and academic departments.
  • Develop, implement and assess creative and innovative programs for the department. Oversee the implementation of the nights and weekend initiative, InfraRED.
  • Support the development of programs to promote student engagement on campus; coordinate programs such as Pindimonium on an ongoing basis.
  • Supervise and support professional development of an Instructional Assistant who assists with the advising and functioning of the Student Program Board and department initiatives.
  • Coordinate the brand marketing efforts of the department, including social media, digital signage, and other publications.
  • Assist with creating a strong marketing plan and process for University Sponsored Organizations to ensure that branding and Division expectations are met for event planning.
  • Keep up to date with University contracting procedures and policies to ensure that appropriate steps are taken during the event planning process.
  • Demonstrate on-going commitment to student development, learning and growth through 1:1 advising, coordination of trainings and workshops and assessment efforts.
  • Demonstrate problem-solving skills and the ability to work well under pressure within a fast-paced and programming heavy environment.
  • Participate in the implementation and staffing of large-scale events requiring the presence of Center for Student Involvement staff such as, but not limited to, Weeks of Welcome events, Frontier Fiesta, Homecoming, Move-in Weekend, and Cat’s Back. Frequent nights and weekends required.
  • Provide support for the oversight and management of the Student Program Board and Nights and Weekends Program budgets.
  • Support the preparation of annual reports and annual budget presentations.
  • Serve on University and Division of Student Affairs and Enrollment Services standing and ad hoc committees and taskforces.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
Qualifications :

Bachelors and 1 year experience

Requires a thorough understanding of both theoretical and practical aspects of an analytical, technical or professional discipline; or the basic knowledge of more than one professional discipline. Knowledge of the discipline is normally obtained through a formal, directly job-related 4 year degree from a college or university or an equivalent in-depth specialized training program that is directly related to the type of work being performed. Requires a minimum of one (1) year of directly job-related experience.

Additional Education Information:

Department prefers a candidate with a Master's in Higher Education Administration/Student Personnel

Department is willing to do education in lieu of experience.
