About the Opportunity:
The Program & Communications Assistant (PCA) will support managerial, administrative, and marketing tasks necessary to run the PROTECT Center and related research programs at Northeastern University. PROTECT is a multi-institution, NIH-funded Superfund Research Program center conducting research on the impacts of environmental contamination on human health. The PCA will work closely with the Project Manager and PROTECT Director on program administration and communications. The position requires significant collaboration with students, staff, and faculty at Northeastern and at partner institutions.
Responsibilities:
The PROTECT Center is seeking a Program & Communications Assistant (PCA) to join the team and mission by supporting managerial, administrative, and marketing tasks necessary to run the PROTECT Center and related research programs at Northeastern University. PROTECT is a multi-institution, NIH-funded Superfund Research Program center conducting research on the impacts of environmental contamination on human health. The PCA will work closely with the Project Manager and PROTECT Director on program administration and communications. The position requires significant collaboration with students, staff, and faculty at Northeastern and at partner institutions.
Responsibilities include:
- Writing stories for the PROTECT website at https://web.northeastern.edu/protect/
- Managing and writing content for PROTECT social media
accounts
- Assisting with graphics, design, and content for products such
as newsletters, reports, and social media posts
- Scheduling meetings, taking and distributing meeting minutes,
and maintaining center/director calendars
- Supporting event planning and making travel
arrangements
- Purchasing office and research/lab supplies
- Greeting visitors and direct to the appropriate PROTECT
office
- Supporting compilation of materials for annual reports or
proposals to funding agencies
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in communications, marketing, or a related field preferred. Qualified candidates must have excellent written and communication skills, and should have prior experience writing for websites, social media, or other marketing/communications materials. Prior experience with technical/scientific writing a plus. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and WordPress websites preferred. Must be able to manage deadlines, work independently, and collaborate with in person and remote teams. A successful candidate will be comfortable taking initiative, but also knows when to ask for help.
