position of President. The President of Chestnut Hill College as
the Chief Executive Officer, is the primary liaison between the
Board and the administration and is responsible for executing a
strategic plan in alignment with the mission of the College. The
next President must be an innovative and strategic leader
capitalizing on the College’s accomplishments of the 30-year
foundation built by the outgoing President. With intellectual and
marketing vision and a demonstrated knowledge of the highly
competitive liberal arts college market in the North East, the
President will advance the College to new levels of excellence.
Chestnut Hill College, located at the northwestern edge of
Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, was founded in 1924 by the Sisters of
Saint Joseph of Philadelphia as a college for women. The College
went co-educational in 1980 for all graduate programs and in 2003
for all undergraduate programs.
The successful candidate must possess an earned doctorate or
equivalent terminal degree; demonstrate a record of successful
leadership in an institution of higher education or non-profit;
hold an appreciation and respect for the Sisters of Saint
Joseph, their Mission and Core Values; exhibit a deep understanding
of the issues facing higher education in general, and Catholic
higher education in particular; and support and value Catholic
