University of Wisconsin-La Crosse (UW-La Crosse) seeks a dynamic, distinguished executive to serve as its next Associate Vice Chancellor for Information Technology & CIO. This is a unique opportunity at one of the most respected campuses within the University of the Wisconsin System and in the Midwest.

The CIO will report to the Vice Chancellor of Administration & Finance and will be responsible for providing the strategic and operational leadership for Information Technology Services. As a visionary leader, the CIO will work with the campus and system on managing computer information systems, networking communications, teaching and learning applications, information security, and technology infrastructure to support the mission of teaching, learning and research at UW-La Crosse. This key leader will ensure an effective governance structure is in place to help direct and facilitate future IT decisions and investments.

Qualifications for the CIO:

  • A bachelor's degree is required; an advanced degree is preferred.
  • A minimum of ten years of progressively responsible experience in information technology (IT) is desired with at least five years in a supervisory role.
  • Experience in public higher education is strongly desired, and experience providing support in a research-oriented environment would be favorable although not required.
  • Considerable experience working within complex organizational settings in relevant technology areas, as well as providing strategic and innovative thinking is desirable.
  • Demonstrated experience with the development and implementation of new delivery models balancing central and distributed services.
  • Proven ability to mobilize resources, foster innovation, and leverage core infrastructure services for research, learning and service.
  • Experience working with varied constituencies such as faculty, staff, and students to plan, promote, implement, and assess new and existing IT services.
