The Department of Kinesiology is one of six academic units in the College of Health and Human Performance offering seven degree programs: BS in Exercise Physiology, BS in Health Fitness Specialist, BS in Physical Education, BS in Sports Studies, MAEd in Physical Education, MS in Kinesiology and a PhD in Bioenergetics and Exercise Science, with near 1300 majors and over 35 full time faculty. Our internationally known faculty are collaborative, interdisciplinary, and successful in both extramural funded research and innovative teaching. They enthusiastically engage our students in and out of the classroom through interactive lectures, research collaboration, community service projects, as well as other activities. Our distinct research labs support our academic programs as well as provide opportunities for faculty and student research. Faculty and students conduct research in fields related to Exercise Physiology, Bioenergetics, Biomechanics and Motor Control, Adapted Physical Education, Sport and Exercise Psychology, Sport Management, Pedagogy, and Physical Activity Promotion.

Job Duties              

The Department of Kinesiology seeks applicants to fill a nine-month fixed-term appointment with a preferred start date of January 2022. The successful candidate will be expected to teach courses related to exercise physiology, exercise prescription, physical activity, and disease prevention. Duties may include supervising undergraduate interns and administrative duties. The individual in this position will oversee scheduling and function of the F.I.T.T. (Fitness, Instruction, Testing and Training) exercise facility in relation to service and research projects. Additionally, the successful candidate will coordinate the personnel and tasks associated with maintaining the operational excellence of the Cardiovascular Health Assessment Program, a service program offered by the Human Performance Laboratory and a revenue generating service program that funds that portion of the position. This person will also provide service on department and college committees when eligible to service and professional service consistent with responsibilities.

The successful candidate will coordinate the Cardiovascular Risk Assessment Program and assist in exercise-related clinical research (50%) and contribute to teaching undergraduate and graduate courses according to the areas of expertise (50%).

Contingent on availability of funds

Minimum Education/Experience       

A Master’s degree in Kinesiology, Exercise and Sport Science, or related fields (such as but not limited to Adapted Physical Activity, Exercise & Sport Psychology, Human Performance, Movement Studies, Physical Education, Nutrition).

Preferred Experience, Skills, Training/Education          

Expertise in coordinating exercise testing and training programs, clinical research involving exercise, teaching in areas such as exercise testing, exercise prescription, or EKG.
