Professional Development Specialist/Instructional Coach

 

 

We are in search of a Professional Development Specialist/Instructional Coach (PDS) who under the supervision of the Principal is responsible for managing professional development sessions, training, and ongoing improvement, including instructional delivery for new initiatives and identified areas of need.  The PDS serves as an instructional coach for new faculty members in the development of instructional delivery and orientation. The PDS also works with seasoned faculty members in areas of identified need.

 

Responsibilities:

 

  • Plan and lead New Faculty Orientation every August and collaborate with the Program Management Team for school-wide faculty development workshops, and other schedule professional development sessions throughout the year
  • Maintain necessary data and records regarding instruction and Professional Development to submit for Annual Report, Compliance Review, Program Development Review, Board Meetings, and Accreditation
  • Work one-on-one or in small groups of teachers continuously over a semester and/or school year to implement new initiatives or to give extra support as identified by the academic managers
  • Facilitate one to one coaching sessions with teachers in order to help plan lessons, gather appropriate resources and materials, and assist in the utilization of sound data to support instruction
  • Provide technology education on tools that support classroom instruction and support instructional faculty with appropriate training using the technology tools, to include but not limited to Schoology, Achieve/Spark3000, and SMART boards.
  • Remain up-to-date with current trends and initiatives in education, including but not limited to the areas of ESL, GED, Adult Education, Blended Learning, and Hybrid Learning.
  • Create and utilize tools and materials for modeling of best-practices
  • Coordinate with Curriculum Development, Assessment, and Professional Development teams to ensure clear communication across levels and sectors throughout the School.
  • Support faculty in developing reflective teaching practices through initial self-reflection in the evaluation process and follow up as needed.
  • Other related duties as assigned

 

Qualifications:

 

  • M.A. in teaching or a related field with a minimum of 3 years experience in teaching ESL and training content teaching to teachers or the appropriate combination of education and experience 
  • Demonstrated knowledge of adult education theory and knowledge of Workforce Development techniques 
  • Demonstrated ability to provide technology education and support faculty with technology tools (i.e. Schoology, Achieve/Park3000, Smartboards, etc) 
  • Previous experience delivering professional development and coaching teachers
  • Demonstrated knowledge of educational trends and initiatives related to ESL, GED, Adult Education, Blended Learning, and Hybrid learning, etc. 
  • Experience working in Adult Education and with Adult English Language Learners
  • Ability to coordinate with external partners to provide training to address internal needs
  • Excellent professional and effective oral and written communications skills
  • Ability to self-motivate and work unsupervised
  • Proficient in Microsoft Suite and G-Suite

Schedule Requirements: Must be available to work two evenings a week during the academic school year
