Howe Writing Center: The Assistant Director will assist the Howe Center for Writing Excellence Director in all planning and implementing all aspects of the Writing Across the Curriculum Efforts and ensuring the vision outlined by Roger and Joyce Howe is achieved.

Duties include and are not limited to:

  • Faculty Writing Fellows program,
  • one-time and multi-part workshops,
  • faculty learning communities,
  • advanced Writing requirement,
  • capstone and critical thinking assessment,
  • online resource guides,
  • one-on-one faculty consultations
  • department and program-specific workshops
  • writing hours and writing retreats
  • writing groups
  • conductory search and assessment
  • mentor Graduate Students
  • provide special support to Farmer School of Business faculty.

Required: MA in rhetoric and composition or closely related fields and two years of professional experience or one year as a graduate assistant, excellent written and oral communication skills, excellent presentation skills, knowledge of best practices in professional development. Position is not eligible for H-1B sponsorship.

Consideration may be given to candidates with ABD or PhD in rhetoric and composition; experience in a writing across the curriculum program; experience leading faculty development efforts; experience mentoring graduate students. Demonstrated effectiveness as a researcher and mentor.
