Position Overview:

Produce visual solutions for use in marketing materials (both printed and digital) and social media content and marketing materials. Plan, schedule, and implement graphic design projects. Review design drafts, proof camera-ready art, and ensure proper pagination and color assignment. Apply established corporate branding specifications to ensure work meets university guidelines. Assist in Web design and creating and managing online content using a WCMS (Web Content Management System). May also produce technical illustrations for manuals, brochures, labels, or other documents.

Department Specific Essential Job Functions:

Works under the supervision of the College of Fine Arts and Design’s Manager of Marketing and Communications.

Designs and produces materials for internal and external University usage specific to the College of Fine Arts and Design. Conveys University messages to its audiences effectively and efficiently. Remains knowledgeable of and works with University branding and graphic standards. Meets with clients to develop promotional materials. Coordinates with printers and service bureaus to develop printed materials. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Qualifications/Experience Required:

Requires a university degree in field plus 3+ years of relevant experience in Graphic Design or 7+ years of equivalent work experience that provides knowledge of and exposure to fundamental theories, principles, and concepts. Requires the application of expertise in Graphic Design to achieve results.

Qualifications/Experience Preferred:

Proficiency with the most current version of Adobe Creative Suite. Specifically, InDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop, are essential. With a working knowledge of Premier and After Effects. (However other programs might be utilized on occasion).

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
  • Ability to prioritize and schedule multiple projects to meet deadlines and effective organizational and oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong composition ability, proficiency with layout design, ability to utilize multiple brand identities effectively (each CFAD department has its own look).
  • Ability to reformat designs for multiple platforms, (such as poster to email blast. A large format banner to t-shirt design or webpage ad).
  • Skilled understanding of typography (font usage) in design is preferred.
  • Comfortable with creating vector images in Illustrator is preferred.
  • Comfortable transitioning from one CS program to another is preferred.
  • Ability to use camera, video and lighting equipment will be utilized as well.
