Job Description


The Manager, Accessibility Services and Resources (ASR) serves under the direction of the Director, Accessibility Services and Resources. Manages College functions for the delivery of services related to the provision of accommodations for students and employees in order to maintain compliance with Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act and with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). Collaborates with campus-personnel to identify needs, develop and implement solutions.


  1. Manages a system-wide database program for case management of students with disabilities, including providing necessary reports to ensure LSC policies are met
  2. Provides training to campus disability services staff, Assistive Technology (AT) staff, students, and faculty on use of system-wide database program
  3. Assists with facilitating employee ADA accommodation requests, including intake, documentation review, accommodation recommendations, documentation, tracking, reporting, and assessment of the process
  4. Responds to general inquiries regarding the process for requesting accommodations, including determination of documentation required under the ADA regulations
  5. Develops and delivers workshops to faculty and staff on a variety of accessibility topics, tools and technologies for students with disabilities
  6. Provide consultation to faculty, staff members and administrators regarding accessibility and accommodations
  7. Consults with campus disability services staff regarding issues including, but not limited to intake interviews, review of disability documentation, and the process of determining appropriate accommodations for students with disabilities
  8. Consults with assistive technology staff on the software, hardware, and provision of assistive technology-related services, including providing training to staff and students on utilization of technology
  9. Manages the assistive technology inventory throughout the College including maintaining an inventory of all equipment and software
  10. Tracking and maintenance of needed assistive technology purchases, anticipated renewals, new technologies, and upgrades
  11. May assist with the scheduling of interpreting and transcribing services as needed
  12. May hire, train and supervise support staff
  13. Performs administrative and support duties within the Office of Governance, Accountability, and Compliance (OGAC), as needed. Duties may include, but are not limited to:
      • responding to general inquiries
      • distributing, collecting, maintaining, and completing documents, records and materials in a variety of systems and methods accurately and in a timely manner
      • communicating both verbally and in writing with students, faculty, and staff
  14. Responsible for other reasonable, related duties as assigned


    • Knowledge of AT devices such as computer hardware and software, augmentative communication devices, devices for those with sensory impairments, tools for learning activities, and mobility equipment.

    • Proficient knowledge of computer use in the workplace is required, including typing, maintaining an electronic work calendar in the specified program(s), utilizing internet search engines, as well as a variety of programs including word processing, spreadsheets, and databases
    • Ability to take initiative and understand policies and procedures
    • Proficient knowledge in the utilization of assistive technology equipment and software for the implementation of ADA accommodations


The work is sedentary. Typically, the employee sits comfortably to do the work. However, there may be some walking; standing; bending; carrying of light items, such as papers, books, or small parts; or driving an automobile. No special physical demands are required to perform the work.


    • Equipment used includes, PC workstation running on a LAN in a Microsoft Windows environment, calculator, phone and other general office equipment
    • Interface with internal and external contacts as needed to carry out the functions of the position
    • Work is performed in a climate-controlled office with minimal exposure to safety hazards


    • Bachelor’s degree and at least 5 years of related work experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
    • Reliable mode of transportation to travel to campus locations within the LSC Service Area


    • Job-related experience in a community college or university setting
    • Experience working and communicating with a diverse student population (e.g., socioeconomic, ethnic and disabled - including hearing impaired, vision impaired, limited mobility and autism spectrum of disorders)


Hiring sa lary range is $60,590 to $75,740

Lone Star College provides a hiring salary range for all posted full-time non-faculty positions. Where your salary offer would fall in that range is determined by your related experience and education.
