Farmer School of Business (FSB):  Computer & Technology Specialist to participate in multiple levels of computer application development; including analysis, design, requirements definition, development, testing, implementation, training, and production support.  Provides on-site assistance for faculty, students and staff using technology in instruction, research and administration. Provides assistance with installation and maintenance of computer hardware and software systems.  Responsible for troubleshooting all computer hardware and software issues.  Most tasks are conducted independently and range in level of support specialization.

Duties include and are not limited to:

  • Install, design and configure operation system components to gain the most functionality out of computer systems
  • Provide assistance with computer network interfaces, installation, and maintenance of computer and software systems
  • Troubleshoot various hardware and software problems as they occur
  • Assist faculty, students and staff in using technology in instruction, research and administration
  • Participate in call tracking system using FSB RT system, maintaining ownership of calls that are assigned or self-assigned
  • Maintain computer technology teaching labs within Farmer School of Business
  • Handle classroom technology calls and trouble tickets within FSB
  • Repair necessary hardware support that may fall outside of factory warranty
  • Consult with faculty, staff and researchers to determine appropriate selection of software, hardware, computer platforms and peripherals for their needs
  • Work with researcher to enhance research by implementation of technology to support their research methods
  • Perform administrative tasks as assigned by supervisor
  • Standard work hours apply to the position, but some job responsibilities require a varied schedule.

Required: Bachelor’s degree with coursework in computer science, IT, or related field; Three years of general computer installation, maintenance and repair experience; Knowledge of Windows and Macintosh operating systems. Position is not eligible for H-1B sponsorship.

Consideration may be given to candidates with knowledge of Microsoft Sharepoint, Citrix and Oracle, supervisory experience, web design, multi-media and imaging experience, cloud-based computing.
