JOB DESCRIPTION

The University of Indianapolis is seeking applicants for Marketing & Communications Manager. This is a full-time, exempt staff position.

This role is an integral member of the University Communications and Marketing team, managing the integrated marketing and communications strategies for several University departments including, but not limited to, portions of Student Affairs, the Office of Inclusion and Equity, International Programs, Global Engagement, Study Abroad, Athletics, etc. The successful candidate develops, implements and monitors the success of marketing and communications strategies to engage various audiences (external and internal). Critical to the success of this position is experience in planning and successful project management, integrated marketing communications, persuasive writing and content development, as well as working in collaboration with university leadership, directors and faculty to impact various audiences.

Candidates will be required to upload a resume, cover letter, unofficial transcript (highest degree earned), and three writing samples (including one communications plan).

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Oversee the production of IMC deliverables to fulfill departmental goals
  • Coordinate project teams and external resources to ensure clarity of overall University positioning and branding, consistency of messaging and effective production of multi-platform content
  • Provide advice and guidance to administration and leadership to support marketing trends, best practices and effectiveness
  • Work closely with clients and communications and marketing teams to support departmental goals and strategic priorities
  • Develop comprehensive marketing plans to support client activities and objectives
  • Manage productive working relationships with creative staff, university and contracted vendors, to help ensure projects are completed on time and within budget
  • When needed, develop content and copy for client account materials, including posters, mailers, emails and newsletters
  • Coordinate with internal and external resources to develop, launch and monitor engaging content related to client strategies
  • Cultivate social media content and web content as a communications strategy
  • Serve as a collegial and collaborative member of the Communications & Marketing department, assisting with other marketing-related duties as assigned and as time permits
  • Adapt to workload and working conditions while maintaining a positive attitude and professional demeanor
  • Create project estimates, plans and timelines that consider what each deliverable requires and what resources may be needed; discussing impact against other priorities in the queue with team leads
  • Manage expectations of clients when scoping and executing project plans and deliverables
  • Collect requirements and define core functionality for deliverables
  • Effectively track and manage projects using project management software


QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing, Public Relations, Communications or related field is required
  • At least five years of experience working in integrated marketing and communications required
  • Demonstrable experience managing multi-platform integrated marketing and communications message development and distribution required
  • Demonstrated experience in project management, working with creative teams; and ability to conceptualize, develop and produce content for a variety of communications channels, including analysis and reporting to strengthen organizational brand and reputation required
  • Proficiency in Associated Press style writing and editing, Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint required
  • Superior spelling, punctuation and grammar skills are required
  • Ability to plan, organize and coordinate work assignments independently, with a demonstrated ability to work as part of a team toward organizational objectives required
  • Evidence of superior oral and written communication skills are required
  • Evidence of success working effectively with diverse constituencies and in a team environment required
  • Higher education experience preferred
  • This position requires a clean or acceptable driving record
