Responsible for assisting with the operations of the Honors Program. Creates and implements student leadership development opportunities. Advises Honors Program Students regarding numerous academic enrichment opportunities. Salary Grade Essential Functions
  • Develops and coordinates all aspects of the Honors Program Peer Leader Program
    • Selects student Peer Leaders through extensive interview process
    • Coaches and guides Peer Leaders throughout the academic year


  • Provides training and guidance to members and officers of ECHO (Elmhurst College Honors Organization), the largest Student Government Association ( SGA ) Organization on campus, in fulfillment of their roles and responsibilities
  • Plans and facilitates the annual fall overnight Honors Program New Member Retreat for incoming Honors Program students, approximately 100 attendees per year
  • Supervises the Honors Program student employee
  • Coaches students preparing for professional national research conference participation
  • Creates, implements, and compiles results of assessment instruments for Honors Program students in achievement of Honors Program goals and outcomes
  • Coordinates Honors Program service activities each term such as the day-long “Do College for a Day” visit by Mercy Home for Boys and Girls (a longstanding Chicago foster-care facility)
  • Assists at First-Year and Transfer registration, providing potential Honors Program students information about the Honors Program
  • Assists the Director in recruitment of prospective Honors Program students, working closely with all specialized Centers and Programs on campus
  • Attends Honors Program Admissions events as needed
  • Creates and distributes Honors Program written communications, including editing and publishing seven issues/per academic year of the Honors Program newsletter, BLUE
  • Reviews and revises Honors Program website content
  • Assists the Honors Program Director and Assistant Faculty Director with varied tasks as needed


Other Duties and Responsibilities
  • Assists in planning, coordinating, and attending events sponsored by or participated in by the Honors Program
  • Assists in representing the Honors Program within the College community and beyond, coordinating with other College departments
Minimum Qualifications
  • A Bachelor’s Degree (Master’s preferred) in the liberal arts or in a professional program with a strong liberal arts component
  • At least two years of experience in an educational setting at the college level— ideally, experience within a nationally recognized Honors Program or Honors College ( NCHC affiliated)
  • Highly skilled at multi-tasking and prioritizing tasks as dictated by deadlines and importance
  • Outstanding written and oral communication skills to interface with a wide range of students, faculty, parents, and donors within the College community and beyond
  • Ability to be flexible and adaptable
  • Ability to work with a diverse student population
  • Ability to travel as needed
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite software, survey software, and assessment software
Preferred Qualifications Working Conditions/Physical Requirements
Employee is subject to indoor work, protected from weather conditions. Work is sedentary in nature and involves exerting up to 10 lbs. of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently/constantly in order to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move object.
