We are currently seeking to fill our Director of Diversity and Community Partnerships - PCOM Georgia position at the Georgia campus with a highly qualified and passionate individual.

Position Summary :

The Georgia Campus - Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine (PCOM Georgia) seeks a creative and strategic leader to assume the position of Director of Diversity and Community Partnerships. The ideal candidate will be charged with supporting PCOM’s strategic goals of advancing a diverse and inclusive community and bring a proven track record in building and supporting initiatives that promote diversity, equity, access, and inclusion.

PCOM Georgia is a private, not-for-profit branch campus of the fully accredited Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine, a multi-program institution of educational excellence founded in 1899.

PCOM Georgia offers the doctor of osteopathic medicine degree, the doctor of pharmacy degree, a master

of science degree in biomedical sciences and a master of science degree in physician assistant studies.

The campus, located in Suwanee, Georgia, is also home to the Georgia Osteopathic Care Center, an osteopathic manipulative medicine clinic, which is open to the public by appointment.

Reporting to the Chief Diversity and Community Relations Officer (CDCRO) this newly created role of Director of Diversity and Community Partnerships will provide leadership in developing the diversity and community partnership strategies mainly for the Georgia Campus for PCOM. The Georgia Campus Director will establish and manage partnerships between offices, departments, and community partners to assess and implement programs and initiatives involving education, assessment, quality improvement, and mitigation of risk within matters of cultural competency, diversity and inclusion, including race, gender identity, sexual orientation, ethnicity, socioeconomic status, and individuals with disabilities. The GA Campus Director will implement services and initiatives designed to enhance the recruitment and successful retention of students, faculty, and staff from diverse and under-represented population groups. Externally, the role will be charged with identifying opportunities for partnerships with local K-12 schools, regional institutions of higher education, and community organizations to raise the visibility of the PCOM Georgia programs and disciplines in creative and traditional ways. The ideal candidate will be a recognized leader in his/her respective field with proven experience in the research and implementation of diversity theory and practical application and will have demonstrated a commitment to diversifying faculty, staff, students and/or curriculum. The GA Campus Director along with the CDCRO will encourage an environment of shared responsibility, reinforcing a sense of continued engagement and ownership for the diversity and inclusion philosophy across PCOM.

PCOM SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

· Continue to develop and implement a comprehensive plan for furthering diversity, equity and cultural competency within Georgia PCOM Campus aligned with PCOM. Serve as one of the key enterprise leaders in implementing diversity and inclusion strategies and initiatives.

· Develop and implement a comprehensive communication strategy that will serve both internally and externally to promote a culture of openness and full participation of all PCOM, local, regional and national constituents.

· Enhance and oversee all GA affiliate-level Diversity Councils, Department Diversity Councils and Employee Resource Groups in order to provide partnership and maintain alignment with the overall mission, vision and metrics of the Office of Diversity & Community Relations.

· Implement programs, training, and workshops to foster institutional awareness of, and commitment to, student, faculty, and staff diversity goals.

· Provide coaching and mentoring to any staff, faculty or students who require this level of support for varied reasons.

· Serve as public speaker for the Office of Diversity & Community Partnerships and PCOM leadership for internal and external groups.

· In conjunction with the CDCRO, Director of Admissions, and Director of Student Affairs, and other comparable stakeholders throughout all PCOM Georgia programs assist the College community in developing, coordinating, and evaluating programs to attract and retain underrepresented students.

• Develop and strengthen local and regional campus-community partnerships.

•Represent the College in community organizations and initiatives; participate in activities to foster collaborative work with off-campus groups.

•Support schools/units in their efforts to expand range of campus-community partnerships

· Establish, monitor and evaluate programmatic and operational effectiveness of the programs, and effect changes required for improvement as necessary for both PCOM campuses.

· Implement ongoing culture/climate assessments to understand and measure strengths and deficits of the PCOM environment for faculty, staff, students, patients/families and clients/partners. Manage implementation of enterprise-wide and/or department-specific improvements based on assessment results.

· Proxy for Chief Diversity and Community Relations Officer during her absence.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

Education: Master’s in Health Administration, Higher Education, or other relevant field is required with a minimum of 5 years of experience in higher education or related field directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.

Knowledge: Thorough understanding of all laws and regulations relating to Affirmative Action and Diversity. Technical knowledge of diversity issues in a complex organization including positioning of the function, involvement in senior level recruiting and retention, program development and implementation, training, ability to assess the educational impact of diversity programs and monitoring the campus climate and the legal issues surrounding affirmative action and employment strategies. Familiarity with potential community health partnerships with the Greater Atlanta community preferred

Skills: Demonstrated leader and strategic thinker who can develop a vision with the ability to implement change. Strong interpersonal skills to interact with a variety of constituents and stakeholders. Cultivate and sustain community partnerships; excellent oral and written communication skills. Ability to collect and analyze data for strategic planning and decision making; Ability to implement a broad vision to influence change at senior administrative level and proven track record that demonstrates successful programs and initiatives that foster and advance diversity and inclusion

Required Licensure, Certification: None required. Diversity training, crisis prevention, emotional intelligence, implicit bias, adult education, certification preferred
