THE DEPARTMENT: The Department of Nursing is in the College of Science. The department has approximately 425 students in BSN, RN-BSN, and Master’s Degree in Nursing programs. The department actively strives to represent the diversity of our Bay Area community in all of its forms both in our student population and our faculty. The nursing program is fully accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE). Nursing program graduates have a history of strong performance on the NCLEX. The Department has a reputation for producing highly skilled health professionals and enjoys supportive relationships with the regional healthcare facilities.

DUTIES OF THE POSITION: We are seeking a candidate qualified to teach geriatric nursing and/or medical-surgical nursing. The position will include teaching courses in the classroom and clinical setting. Classes include both synchronous and asynchronous formats. Assignment will be determined by need and expertise. In addition to teaching, all faculty have advising responsibilities, assist the department with administrative and committee work, and are expected to assume department and campus-wide committee responsibilities. Please note that teaching assignments at California State University, East Bay include courses at the Hayward, Concord and Online campuses. All faculty are also expected to utilize online learning systems.

RANK AND SALARY: Assistant Professor. Salary is dependent upon educational preparation and experience. Subject to budgetary authorization.

QUALIFICATIONS: Candidates should demonstrate a commitment to life-long learning, a growth-mindset and a team-approach. Candidates must have teaching experience and should demonstrate experience in mentoring, research, and/or community service that has prepared them to contribute to our commitment to diversity and excellence. Candidates must have an active California RN license or be eligible for one. Candidates must have a bachelor’s or master’s degree in nursing and expect to have an earned doctoral degree in nursing or a related discipline prior to their start date. Candidates must have expertise in geriatric nursing and/or medical surgical nursing and be eligible for Board of Registered Nursing faculty approval for lecture and clinical instruction. Candidates should have a demonstrated commitment to working with students and diverse populations and be engaged in scholarly inquiry and community service.
