The Benefits and Workilife Department seeks aManager of Student Health (Benefits Manager) will report to the Sr. Director of Benefits and Worklife and will be responsible for all functions in support of the JHU student health plans including strategic problem solving, administration, claims analysis and coordination with various stake holders.

Note: This position has hybrid telecommuting options

Specific Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Coordination of annual renewal process for the Student Health Plan (SHP) with different contacts in a decentralized environment
  • Collaboration with finance teams to develop and manage SHP budget detail, tracking and socializing impact of plan performance and budgetary considerations
  • Administration of SHP including assessment and improvements to current processes including administrative platform and enrollment process
  • Management of day to day claims and program needs including appeals, participant inquiries and plan details
  • Liaise with university student services and leadership groups to socialize plan strategy and initiatives
  • Serves as a point-of-contact for school representatives with support surrounding plan administration and design
  • Coordination and submission of annual compliance filings for all student health plans
  • Communication of all SHP programs to students and other stakeholders
  • Develop materials and participate in leadership and stake holder meetings regarding SHP (including leading student meetings)
  • Develop and implement strategic initiatives in support of SHP plan design in response to feedback and in line with best practice
  • Other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications (Mandatory):

  • Requires Bachelor’s Degree (Master’s degree preferred) and 5 or more years of experience in employee benefits, or equivalent.
  • Strong benefits operations and customer service background, preferably in a university setting.
  • Knowledge of benefit plans, policies, laws and practices.
  • Strong project management and ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Ability to work with other departments promoting teamwork and foresight in establishing and reviewing new and existing benefits policies and procedures.
  • Excellent written, verbal and presentation skills.
  • Ability to provide clear information on benefits policies and procedures to students and university leadership.

  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Ability to plan, problem-solve, and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
