Samford University’s Cumberland School of Law invites individuals interested in serving in a Christian university environment to apply for two open faculty positions.  These tenure-track faculty positions are nine-month appointments that will begin in August 2022 at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor.  Preference will be given to applicants with expertise and teaching interests in business organizations, contracts, commercial law, and other aspects of transactional law.  Other areas of need include criminal law and procedure, employment law, environmental law, externships, family law, negotiation and mediation, and professional responsibility.

Candidates must have outstanding academic credentials, including a J.D. from an ABA-accredited law school or equivalent degree.  They also must exhibit strong teaching skills and be committed to maintaining an ongoing research effort.  Preferred candidates will have experience in private practice, government, or public service.  Prior teaching experience is advantageous but not required.  A commitment to academic excellence and the ability to work effectively and collegially with faculty, students, and colleagues is expected.  Cumberland School of Law prides itself on its commitment to teaching and to ensuring not only the success of its students upon graduation but their recognition of the ethical obligations that flow from being an officer of the court and a servant of the community.  The ideal candidate will thus demonstrate the ability and motivation to develop meaningful mentoring relationships with students both in and out of class.

Review of applications will begin August 27, 2021, and applications will be accepted until September 30, 2021. Application materials should include a letter of interest, curriculum vita, application for faculty position and the faculty applicant Christian Mission statement.
