The University of North Carolina at Pembroke (UNCP) invites qualified applicants to apply for a full-time non-tenure track faculty position. Educational preparation and clinical expertise in medical-surgical, psychiatric, community health, and/or family nursing preferred. An individual in this position will teach in both pre-licensure BSN and RN-BSN programs, during academic year and summer session, consistent with the job description.
UNCP is a master’s level degree-granting university and one of 17 schools that comprise the University of North Carolina system. With a total enrollment of more than 6,000, the university offers 41 undergraduate and 18 graduate degree programs. The UNCP main campus is located in Pembroke, N.C. a quiet, safe community within 15 minutes from Lumberton, N.C. Located just off Interstate 95 and Interstate 74 at the mid-point between Boston and Miami, the campus is convenient to all major metro areas of the Carolinas as well as world famous beaches and resorts. Areas of potential teaching include adult health nursing I/II, family nursing I/II, psychiatric nursing, health assessment, foundations of nursing (during summer), and other assignments as determined by Chair, School of Nursing. Responsibilities include assisting the nursing faculty team in curriculum design, providing classroom and clinical instruction of students, advising of undergraduate students, and participating in School of Nursing governance activities.
The successful candidates’ primary responsibilities include assisting the nursing faculty team in curriculum design and review, providing classroom and clinical instruction, advising of undergraduate students, participating in departmental governance as well as official activities of the School of Nursing, College of Health Sciences, and the University. Other responsibilities include contributing to the development of the nursing profession through research and scholarship as well as engaging in community and professional service associated with area of expertise. Minimum Training and Experience Requirements: MSN required. – Prior experience teaching in higher education setting. Management Preference: MSN required. Educational preparation and clinical expertise in maternal child, mental health, and/or community health nursing preferred. License and Certification: License as a registered nurse in North Carolina.
