The Social Sciences Collegiate Division at the University of Chicago is now accepting applications for part-time Lecturers to teach Introduction to Russian Civilization I and Russian Civilization II during the 2021-22 academic year. Introduction to Russian Civilization is a three-quarter sequence in the undergraduate Civilization Studies program. Responsibilities include preparing and teaching a seminar-style course, holding regularly scheduled office hours, preparing and grading assignments, and attending staff meetings. The minimum per-course salary is $7,000, and the position is not benefits eligible.

The terms and conditions of employment for this position are covered by a collective bargaining agreement between the Service Employees International Union (SEIU) and the University.

The position requires a Ph.D. in Russian literature or history or another area relevant to the study of Russian history. Experience teaching Russian history at the university or four-year college level is required.
