Quinnipiac University invites applications for a Civil Rights & Title IX Investigator to assist in resolving complaints related to harassment, bias-motivated acts and discrimination based on sex, gender, race, ethnicity, religion, and other protected classes. This includes complaints regarding sexual misconduct, sexual assault, stalking, and intimate partner violence. The Investigator will conduct a prompt, thorough, and impartial investigation, which includes drafting and issuing notices of investigation, identifying and interviewing witnesses and other involved parties, gathering and securing relevant documentation, and drafting and presenting an investigative report. The Investigator will also assist with training and prevention education for students, faculty, and staff to support the university's commitment to providing an environment free from all forms of discrimination and harassment.

  • Investigate allegations related to bias-related discrimination or harassment, including sexual misconduct, related to students, faculty, and staff from initial report to findings
  • Develop a prompt and equitable investigation plan for assigned cases; identify relevant parties, witnesses, and other evidence
  • Interview parties and witnesses as needed in compliance with the appropriate investigative process.  This includes creating and issuing notice of investigation to involved parties, conducting and reporting on witness interviews, preparing and presenting evidence and appropriate supporting documents, and communicating with the parties and their advisors while protecting the neutrality, integrity, and privacy of the investigation
  • Document the investigation process, prepares investigative reports, and catalogs history in university conduct management software (Maxient)
  • Facilitate training/presentations to students, staff, and faculty on Civil Rights, Title IX, and topics related to protected status harassment and discrimination
  • Maintain positive and collaborative relationships with related campus partners, community resources and services, and community leaders
  • Represent the Department on relevant committees, including the Bias Incident Response Team (BIRT) and the Community, Assessment, Response and Evaluation (CARE) Team
  • Remain current regarding state and federal law, including but not limited to Title VII, Title IX, VAWA, Campus Save Act, Clery Act, and FERPA; Remain current regarding trends in the field of education related to sex discrimination and sexual misconduct
  • Other duties as assigned
  • Bachelor's degree required
  • Master's degree preferred
  • Minimum of 1-2 years of professional experience in Title IX compliance, law, human resources, student life, student conduct or similar field required
  • Knowledge of and experience with issues related to gender-based violence required
  • Experience in conducting trauma-sensitive investigations in a higher education setting strongly preferred
  • Higher education experience is strongly preferred.
  • ATIXA certification or related certification strongly preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to work with diverse populations and a commitment to diversity and inclusion
