Job Description
The purpose of this position is to implement Virginia's Urban Nutrient Management (UNM) Program across the state and to meet specific deliverables in the Chesapeake Bay Watershed Implementation Plan. Duties include program data management, management of DCR’s homeowner program, and providing nutrient management plan (NMP)-writing services or technical assistance. Incumbent will work with the UNM Coordinator to administer certification exams, assist with training schools, and develop/execute NMP implementation verification procedures. Incumbent will also be responsible for collaborating with stakeholders interested in developing or currently managing UNM Programs in a Chesapeake Bay-wide setting as opportunities become available. This individual must have a good working knowledge of urban horticulture and turfgrass maintenance practices, relevant experience, and the ability to work with diverse clientele. This position will be located in Richmond, VA.
Required Qualifications
Must have a Master's degree in Horticulture, Crop and Soil Sciences, or a closely related field or a bachelor's degree in Horticulture, Crop & Soil Sciences or related field and significant (more than five years) applicable experience in the green industry. Must be certified as a nutrient management planner in Virginia or capable of becoming certified within six months of employment.
