Job Summar y : Support ongoing activities associated with Business & Finance and Human Resources information systems to include troubleshooting and resolving issues, implementing enhancements, and producing general and specialized reports. Work primarily with Human Resources staff, while providing back up support to Business & Finance staff, to investigate, explain, and resolve system related issues, and provide research and recommendations for special projects within these functional areas. Ability to work under limited supervision. Requires initiative and the use of sound independent judgment.

Supervision: This position reports to the Director of Finance and Human Resources Information Systems. This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities but will provide system related support to functional and campus users of the Business & Finance and Human Resources information systems.

Essential Duties:

  1. Develop and maintain thorough knowledge of the Business & Finance and Human Resources information systems and functional processes.
  2. Assist in the development and documentation of technical system policies, procedures, and standards; provide technical assistance to office staff and system users; participate as liaison with software support services and the Office of Information Technology in the coordination of system issues, modifications, and improvements.
  3. Provide assistance in maintaining, developing, and monitoring the Business & Finance and Human Resources information systems internal controls; assist in identifying errors associated with transaction processing and work with office staff to resolve system issues.
  4. Provide system related training and support to functional users of the system; assist in recommending and implementing procedures to enhance system processes and workflows to help ensure optimal system utilization.
  5. Assist in the design, testing, and implementation of various software systems and tools used throughout Business & Finance and Human Resources.
  6. Assist functional users in preparing and executing testing plans for system updates; coordinate issue resolution.
  7. Provide assistance to Business & Finance and Human Resources teams with special projects, audits and reports.
  8. Serve as first point of contact for system related issues that arise from user community; primary point of contact for researching and resolving Tier-1&2 system issues; design and implement solutions or reports to address/identify system related issues.
  9. Utilize various report writer and data retrieval tools supported by the college to extract data from databases; design and develop general and specialized reports; participate in the evaluation of new reporting tools.
  10. Assist in the development, maintenance, and modification of web pages and other web applications for Business & Finance and Human Resources.


Bachelor ’s degree and a minimum of 2 years related experience or the equivalent combination of education and experience; strong organizational, analytical, written, and verbal communication skills; excellent attention to detail; demonstrated understanding of relational databases and SQL (structured query language); ability to collect and analyze data, handle multiple tasks and process confidential information is required. Previous experience working with financial and human resources systems is strongly preferred.

Work Environment:

Most of the work of the incumbent is carried out within a generally accessible, safe, indoor environment. The incumbent will be required to operate a personal computer and associated equipment such as computer printers and other office equipment used in the day-to-day office operations. The incumbent may be required to deliver or pickup various correspondences or materials from other on campus locations and must be able to walk drive or make alternative transportation arrangements.
