The assistant research scientist’s responsibilities will comprise three main areas of focus: 1) the continued development of a large professional development model on the research based collaborative, conversation-based pedagogy – Instructional Conversations (IC); 2) the development, with the CLASE leadership team, of research/practice partnerships with school districts to investigate the implementation and impacts of the IC pedagogical model on student achievement, social emotional learning, and language development; 3) the preparation of national and foundation grant proposals to support this research, as well as manuscripts for submission to peer-reviewed journals to disseminate the knowledge learned to a wide range of stakeholders and audiences. CLASE faculty and core staff include individuals with expertise in education, linguistics, psychology, applied cognition and development, pedagogies targeting CLD learners, special education, teacher professional development, and K-12 administration.
